Amsterdam in silver

During the first Covid-19 lockdown, I did not go out very much. Many photographers did. For some reason, they felt that they were not obliged to obey the government’s request to stay at home. There were many options to photograph an almost empty Amsterdam just after or just before lockdown measures, and that is what I did, taking my old Nikon F4 for a stroll. A camera I would never use for serious assignments. I made pictures anybody else could have made, and some of these photographs actually have been made over a million times by others. I simply did not care. It is nice to take a 1980s camera for a stroll, to come home at the end of the day and develop films, and by doing so being part of the original magic that photography once defined.
